CMP constable found Covid-19 positive after death with symptoms
A constable of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), who passed away at Chattogram General Hospital with Covid-19-like symptoms on May 23, tested positive for the virus yesterday.
Md Nekbar Hossain, 47, of Halishahar Police Station, was found positive for Covid-19 in the test report which arrived on Sunday, according to a press release of Police Headquarters issued yesterday.
Nekbar died at the hospital around 8:30am on Saturday morning after he was admitted on Thursday afternoon with breathing difficulties.
After his death, samples were collected and sent to be tested for Covid-19, the release read.
He was earlier admitted to Dampara Divisional Police Hospital with Covid-19-like symptoms a few days ago and was undergoing treatment there, Amena Begum, additional police commissioner of CMP, told The Daily Star earlier.
Nekbar earlier tested negative for coronavirus, according to CMP officials.
He was buried at his village home in Char Fasson upazila of Bhola following proper guidelines, the press release also read.
A total of 14 police personnel have so far died of Covid-19, it added.
