Teenager, 2 children die with coronavirus-like symptoms in Kurigram, Jhenidah
Two children and a teenage boy died of Covid-19 like symptoms in Kurigram and Jhenidah today.
A teenager, who was undergoing treatment at the isolation ward of Jhenidah Sadar Hospital with coronavirus symptoms, died this morning.
The 14-year-old boy breathed his last at the hospital around 6:30am, Dr Apurbo Kumar, residential medical officer (RMO) of the hospital, said.
The boy, hailing from Shailakupa upazila of Jhenidah, was taken to the hospital yesterday afternoon as he was suffering from breathing problem and fever, he said.
As the physical condition of the boy deteriorated, he was shifted to the isolation ward of the hospital where he died in the morning, said the RMO.
His samples were collected and sent to Jashore Science and Technology University for coronavirus test, the doctor added.
Two children suffering with coronavirus symptoms died in Bhurungamari and Nageshwari upazilas of Kurigram district early today.
A six-month-old died early in the morning after suffering from fever and breathing problem in Nageshwari upazila, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports quoting officials.
The samples of the deceased and his father were collected for coronavirus test, said Nageshwari upazila health and family planning officer Dr Abu Bakar Siddique.
Besides, a six-year-old girl, suffering from severe fever and convulsion, died at Shahi Bazar village in Bhurungamari upazila early today.
Bhurungamari upazila health and family planning officer SM Sayem said they collected samples of the deceased to ensure whether the child was infected with the coronavirus.
The health officials also collected the samples of the family members as the child's father returned home from Dhaka recently, added Sayem.
