Medicine ward of Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital locked down

The medicine unit of Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital was locked down last night after a patient treated in the unit tested Covid-19 positive.

The hospital authority also asked 24 doctors and nurses of medicine unit-3 (male) who came into contact with the patient to go into home quarantine, our correspondent said quoting Dr Bakir Hossain, director of the hospital.

He said a 70-year-old man who hailed from Babuganj upazila, was admitted into the medicine ward of the hospital on April 13.

The man hid his Covid-19 symptoms, claims the director.

After conducting an x-ray, suspicion grew among doctors and they sent the patient to the isolation centre, the director said, adding that finally the patient was found positive for the virus last night.
