‘Execution after disposal of review, if Nizami files’

Jamaat-e-Islami leader Motiur Rahman Nizami’s execution will be carried out after the disposal of review, if he files it, said Attorney General Mahbubey Alam today.

“Following the SC verdict, it has been established that Nizami was involved in the killing of intellectuals and professions,” the attorney general said.

The SC today upheld death penalty for the Jamaat-e-Islami leader awarded for his crimes against humanity committed during the country’s Liberation War in 1971.

“He was responsible for killing and instigating atrocities during 1971 war,” he said. Expressing satisfaction with the verdict, he added that it reflected the expectations of the nation.
