12kg gold seized in Chittagong, 3 held
Police today detained three people and seized a total of 120 gold bars weighing 12 kg from their private car in Ruby Gate area of Chittagong city.
Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a Dhaka-bound private car when it was passing through Ruby Gate of the city around 3:30pm and recovered the gold bars this afternoon, Pradip Kumar Dash, officer-in-charge of Bayezid Police Station, told our correspondent.
Police also detained Jakir Hossain, 25, driver of the car and its passengers Jahir, 27 and Farroque, 29, in this connection, the OC added.
The market value of the gold bar is estimated to be around Tk 6 crore, the police official added.
Detainees Jahir and Farroque are employees of a Dhaka-based private company, the OC said.
