2 Bangladeshis killed in Saudi cylinder blast
Two Bangladeshi workers were killed in a gas cylinder explosion in Saudi Arabia’s Dammam yesterday.
The deceased have been identified as Abdur Rahman from Laxmipur and Mohammad Bashir from Feni, said Noor Mohammad Masum, first secretary (Labour Wing) at Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh.
“We came to know from locals that the two died in an explosion that happened due to a fault in the gas line,” he told The Daily Star over phone.
The embassy will look into the incident and send back of the victims’ bodies home, Masum said. He, however, could not confirm their legal status, but said they will try to realise compensations from their owners.
Earlier last month, two Bangladeshis were killed in Saudi border area after the Houthi rebels from Yemen threw shells targeting the Saudi border guards.
