Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) members today claimed to have arrested two activists of banned militant outfit Ansar Al Islam from Dhaka and Barishal.

The arrestees are Jannatul Naima, 22, and Afzal Hossain, 23, hailing from Chattogram and Sherpur respectively.

The elite force also rescued a woman, 22, during a raid in a madrasa of Barishal district early today, Rab said in a press release.

According to the release, both Naima and Afzal were involved in instigating the woman, who allegedly went into self-disappearance from Chattogram city on June 26.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-2 members conducted the raid at the madrasa, rescued the victim and arrested Ansar Al Islam member Naima, the release said.        

Based on information given by Naima, the Rab-2 team arrested Afzal from Dhaka’s Demra area, it added.
