2 businessmen held over BASIC Bank loan scam
The Anti-Corruption Commission arrested two businessmen early today in a case filed over Tk 76 crore loan scam in BASIC Bank.
Sarwar Jahan and Tamim Suja, directors of MRL Auto Bricks, were arrested from Jamalpur around 10:30am, said ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya.
The case was filed against the two businessmen with Paltan Police station on September 23 last year.
It is one of the 56 cases filed by the ACC last year against 110 people and organisations for irregularities in loans worth about Tk 4,500 crore.
Twenty seven of the accused are bank officials while the rest borrowers and surveyors of the accused, according to the anti-graft watch dog.
