2 female RU students accuse BCL men of sexually harassment
Two female students were sexually harassed at Rajshahi University campus Monday evening allegedly by two Bangladesh Chhatra League activists.
Of the victims, one is a 3rd year student of philosophy department while the other one is a 2nd year student of physics department, our RU correspondent reports.
The victims separately complained to the proctor and to the Sexual Harassment Complaint Committee of the university.
In their written complains, they victims said, BCL activists Sujon Pramanik, a 3rd year student of Islamic History and Culture Department and Liton Hossain, a 4th year student of Political Science Department intercepted them near the central library while they were returning to their dormitory Monday evening.
"They verbally abused us and harassed us with different gestures,” the victims said.
“The BCL activists left the place immediately when we screamed. We demand exemplary punishment to the culprits,” the complaint said.
Assistant Proctor of RU Solyman Chowdhury told The Daily Star that the proctorial body of the university would take action.
Our correspondent cannot contact with the accused as their mobile phones were switched off.
BCL RU unit president Mizanur Rahman Rana said they would take proper steps against anyone responsible for the incident.
