2 HC judges take oath Wednesday
President Abdul Hamid today confirmed the services of two High Court judges, as their two years’ tenure as additional judge will expire tomorrow.
The judges are -- Justice Md Shahinur Islam, who has been discharging as a member of the International Crimes Tribunal-2, and Justice Kashefa Hussain.
The law ministry today issued a gazette notification in this regard after the approval of the president, Law Secretary ASSM Zahirul Haque Dulal told The Daily Star.
Earlier, Chief Justice SK Sinha sent recommendations to the law ministry for confirming the judges. Then the ministry sent the recommendations to the Prime Minister’s Office for forwarding it to the president.
The two judges will take oath the day after tomorrow, Supreme Court Registrar General Syed Aminul Islam told the Daily Star.
On July 31, 2013, President Abdul Hamid appointed Md Shahinur Islam and Kashefa Hussain, who was a deputy attorney general, as additional HC judges for two years.
On February 9 this year, the president appointed 10 additional judges for next two years, raising the number of HC judges to 97.
