2 held with bomb-making materials in Sylhet

Police arrested two people and seized a huge amount of bomb-making materials from their possession in South Surma in Sylhet city last night.

Bolai Mia, 35, and Tazrul Islam, 32, were arrested when they were passing through a police check post in Silam bypass area by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw around 10:15pm, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting Kahirul Sajal, officer-in-charge of South Surma Police Station.

After conducting a search in the three-wheeler, the law enforcers seized the huge bomb-making materials including gunpowder and chocolate bombs, the police official said.

The law enforcers suspect that the bomb making materials were brought from the border area in the district, the OC said.  

Police were measuring the amount of the seized items when this report was filed at 11:45am today.
