2 suspects in Banani businessman murder killed in ‘gunfight’
Two men killed in an alleged gunfight in Dhaka’s Badda today were involved with Banani businessman murder, police said.
The deceased were identified as Al Amin alias Pichchi Al Amin and Saddam.
The duo was hired by Helal Uddin, a Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal leader, to kill Siddik Hossen Munshi, the owner of a recruiting agency in the capital's Banani on November 14, said Shaikh Nazmul Alam, deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
Police arrested Helal, who stands accused in two murder cases including businessman Siddik, from the capital's Gulshan on Tuesday night
Acting on a tip-off that Al Amin and Saddam were hiding at Badda, a team of detectives raided there around 4:00am.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, they opened fire that triggered a “gunfight” between them.
After the “gunfight”, Al Amin and Saddam were found wounded from the spot, DC Alam said.
The victims were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared them dead two hours later, he further said.
