2 killed in Narayanganj, Kushtia ‘gunfights’
Two alleged criminals were killed in reported gunfights with police in Narayanganj and Kushtia early today.
Deceased Moniruzzaman Shahin alias Bonduk Shahin, 40, hailed from Narayanganj while Shahinur Rahman, 30, hailed from Kushtia.
Both of them were accused in criminal cases, our local correspondents report quoting police.
In Narayanganj city, Moniruzzaman was killed during a “gunfight” around 4:30am when police conducted a raid at a drug den, Md Sharifuddin, additional superintendent of police in the district, told our correspondent.
After the “gunfight”, a pistol and four bullets were recovered from the den, the ASP said.
Two police officials including Mahbubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of DB in Narayanganj received minor injuries, he added.
In Kushtia’s Sadar upazila, Sahinur, was killed in a “gunfight” while he tried to flee from police custody, Sabbirul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of DB, told our local correspondent.
He was key accused of killing an expatriate named Rafiqul, police said.
Police after arresting Sahinur yesterday went to Shelaidah village in Kumarkhali upazila to arrest the other suspected killers.
As soon as the law enforcers reached the spot, Shahinur’s aides opened fire, triggering a “gunfight” between them, the DB official said.
Sahinur came in the line of fire when he tried to flee from the police van with handcuff, he claimed.
