2 school girls killed 'after rape' in Madaripur

Miscreants killed two school girls allegedly after raping them in Madaripur Sadar upazila this afternoon.

Two suspects were detained in this connection.

The victims are Class-VIII students at a school in the upazila, a correspondent reports from Shariatpur quoting their families.

According to their parents, the girls left their homes at Mostafapur village around 3:00pm for taking tuition classes. “They were killed after rape,” they alleged. 

Doctors said injury marks were found on the body of one of the victims. They added that it will be clear after autopsies whether the girls were raped. 

Sources at the hospital said four youths aged between 18 and 20 brought the girls to the hospital in a critical condition around 4:00pm, claiming they took poison.

The youths fled after one of the victims died around 5:00pm. The other girl died around 6:00pm, the hospital sources told the correspondent.

Two youths were detained in the evening when they went to the hospital to inquire about the victims.

They were identified as Rafiq Sikder and Shipon Sikder. They were later handed over to police.

The victims’ families claimed that the detainees used to stalk the girls on a regular basis.

Rafiqul Islam Rajib, resident medical officer (RMO) at Madaripur Sadar Hospital, told the correspondent that they found signs of poison at the victims’ mouth.
