3 missing, 30 rescued in Munshiganj trawler capsize
At least three people are still missing as two sand-laden boat capsized in the Padma River with 33 people near Louhojong upazila of Munshiganj due to strong current and winds this afternoon.
The missing labours, all hailing from Pabna were: Jahangir, 28, Sohel, 25, and Jakir, 32, reports our Munshiganj correspondent.
Divers could manage to rescue 30 people from the river, said Assistant Superintendent of Police (Munshiganj) Md Shamsuzzaman.
The labours with their engine-run boats were heading to Boktabali brick kilns in Narayanganj from Madan Khali of Faridpur, he said.
All of the victims, rescued were from Sirajganj, he confirmed.
Members of Coast Guard however were trying to trace the missing people battling the rough weather, said Sub-Lieutenant Hasanur Rahman of Coast Guard, Pagla Station in Narayanganj.
