3.59 lakh posts in govt job remain vacant: Minister
Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam today informed the parliament that over 3.59 lakh government posts remain vacant in different ministries and divisions.
In reply to lawmakers’ queries, the minister also said of the total vacant posts, the number of class one posts is 48,246, two posts 54,294, class third 1,83,737 and the class fourth posts 73,984.
In the scripted reply, he informed the House that the government has taken initiatives to fill up the vacant posts.
"Letters have been sent to all ministries, divisions and the organisations to fill up the vacant posts fast," he said in the scripted answer.
The minister further said manpower is being recruited in the grade 9-12 (class 1 & 2) through the Public Service Commission following the demands of different ministries, divisions and the offices.
However, the ministries, divisions and the organisations recruit manpower from grade 13-20 (class 3 & 4) as per their respective recruiting rules, he added.
