4 children hurt in Jessore bomb explosion
Four children were injured after three abandoned crude bombs went off at Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore this morning.
Injured, Munna, Anik, Ashikul and Fatema are aged between 10 and 11, our correspondent reports quoting Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Abhaynagar Police Station.
They received injuries on their hands and chest, and two of them are stated to be in critical condition, the OC said.
The four children went near a pond at Noapara village to collect palm where they found an abandoned bag containing four crude bombs. Three of the bombs went off after they started playing with it, mistaking it for a toy around 8:15am, the OC added.
The four were first taken to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Khulna Medical College and Hospital as their condition deteriorated, he added.
On information, police visited the spot and recovered an unexploded bomb, the OC said.
