Drinking toxic liquor: 5 die in Rangpur
Five people died today allegedly after drinking toxic liquor in Rangpur city.
They all died after drinking together at a house in Tajhat Bihari Bazar area last night, our Rangpur correspondent reports quoting police.
The deceased were identified as Nasim Mandal, 40, his younger brother Manu Mandal, 35, Abdul Gafur, 30, Ajmeri Mia, 35, and Abdul Majid 34.
The five fell sick after drinking toxic liquor at a house of one Abdur Rahim Chhya last night, said Abdul Quader Jilani, officer-in-charge of Rangpur Kotwali police.
Monu, Gafur and Majid died undergoing treatment at Rangpur Medical College Hospital. The two others met the same fat at their houses around 9:00am
Aggrieved locals vandalised Abdur Rahim’s house blaming him for running underground drug rackets in the area.
Police detained at least eight people in this connection.
