4 more detained over Bogra Shia mosque attack
Law enforcers, in an overnight drive, detained four more people for their alleged involvement in Thursday’s gun attack at a Shia mosque in Bogra that left one dead.
Police picked up one Shamsul Alam, 35, from Shibganj, Bogra correspondent reports quoting Shabbir Ahmed Khan, assistant superintendent of police (Bogra Circle-A).
On the other hand, Maj AKM Azmol Hossain Khan, company commander of Rapid Action Battalion-12, confirmed that the elite force detained three other suspects from the same upazila but their identities could not be known immediately.
With this, total six people have so far been arrested in this connection.
Three armed assailants on Thursday stormed a Shia mosque in Shibganj and opened fire on praying people, killing its muezzin Moazzem Hossain, 70, and injuring three others.
Sona Mia, cashier of the mosque filed a case with Shibganj police station against unknown assailants in this connection on that night.
