5 killed as bus hits roadside tree in Jessore

Five people were killed and 25 others injured after a bus crashed into a roadside tree in Sadar upazila of Jessore today.
The identities of the victims could not be known immediately, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

A Kushtia-bound bus from Khulna veered off the road in Sat Mile area and crashed into a tree around 12:30pm when it was trying to overtake another bus, the daily reported quoting KM Azmal Huda, officer-in-charge of (OC) of Kotwali Police Station.
Three of the victims died on the spot while others succumbed to their injuries after they were whisked off to Jessore General Hospital.
The injured were undergoing treatment there.
