5 sued for BCL infighting at Rangpur Medical College
Five Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists were sued for their alleged involvement in a factional clash that left 10 injured at Rangpur Medical College.
Shahiduzzaman Shahid, existing BCL president of the unit, filed the case with Kotowali Police Station this evening.
In the case statement, Shahid also mentioned that some eight to nine unnamed “criminals” were involved in the incident, Officer-in-Charge Md Abdul Qader Jilani of the station told our Rangpur correspondent.
The named accused are: Sarwar Alam, expelled BCL president of the unit; Farhan Rahman, expelled general secretary of the same unit; and activists Nazmul Hasan, Uttom Kumar Debnath and Gourango Chandra Shaha.
Earlier, 10 people were injured in a Chhatra League factional clash on the campus on Wednesday.
Shahid was among the injured in the infighting that took place over establishing supremacy.
The clash ensued after Sarwar Alam and his supporters attacked Shahid and his followers at Dr Mukta Chhatrabas, said Asaduzzaman Asad, younger brother of Shahid.
