7kg gold seized in Satkhira
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members recovered 60 gold bars weighing around seven kilograms in Kolaroa upazila of Satkhira early today.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the paramilitary force searched a house in Kakdanga bordering area around 1:00pm, reports our Satkhira correspondent quoting Bhuttolal Gayen, chairman of Keragachhi union.
The team headed by Major Najir Ahmed Bakshi, commanding officer of BGB battalion-38, found a bag containing the gold bars at the house owned by one Jahirul Islam, Bhuttolal told our correspondent quoting Nayek Subedar Kamal Hossain.
No one was detained in this connection.
Meanwhile, police detained two persons with 55 kilogrammes of silver at Kalyanpur in Dhaka early today.
Anwar Hossain, 45, and Ibrahim, 23, were picked up suspecting their involvement in smuggling the metal, according to the police.
Police seized the silver from their possession while Anwar and Ibrahim were travelling by a microbus around 3:30am, said Palash Hossain, a sub-inspector of Mirpur Police Station.
