2 more 'drug peddlers' killed in 'gunfights'
Two suspected drug peddlers were killed in two reported gunfights in Chandpur and Mymensingh districts today amid the nationwide ongoing anti-drug drives.
With this, at least 138 alleged drug traders have been killed in the last 22 days. Most of them died in so-called shootouts involving Rab and police.
In Chandpur, Yunus Mizi, 35, was killed in the “gunfight” that took place in Balur Math area of the town around 1:30am, a correspondent from Chandpur reports quoting Wali Ullah, officer-in-charge of Chandpur Model Police Station.
Around 103 pieces of yaba pills, one pipe gun, two bullets, three sharp weapons and four cartridges were said to have been recovered from the spot.
Five police personnel also sustained bullet injuries during the “gunfight”, said the OC.
In Mymensingh, an alleged drug peddler named Manik Mia, 30, was found dead at Klibari Char in Gafargaon upazila, reports UNB.
Manik, who was wanted in several cases, might have been killed in a “gunfight” with his rivals, said Abdul Ahad, OC of Gafargaon Police Station.
Police also recovered 49 pieces of Yaba from the spot.
