ACC for lawsuit into graft in education sector
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has written to the cabinet division requesting lawsuits against those involved in corruption in Bangladesh’s education sector.
It submitted a report to the cabinet today pointing fingers at officers in the education board, BG Press and other government offices for incidents of question paper leaks.
ACC’s Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya has confirmed The Daily Star of the development and said the report included a 39-point recommendation.
The recommendations include lawsuit, either under money laundering or ICT Act, against the persons involved in the incidents of question paper leaks, the PRO said.
The report, with the set of recommendations, was approved by the ACC today and forwarded to secretaries of the cabinet division, primary and higher education division, education ministry, chairman of national curriculum and textbook board, and chief engineer of education engineering department.
Bangladesh, for the last five-six years, has been plagued by repeated incidents and allegations of question leaks at all levels of the education sector – starting from primary level up to bank recruitment tests.
