‘Arakan Army man’ held in Rangamati

Law enforcers arrested a suspected member of Arakan Army, an insurgent outfit of Myanmar, in Rajasthali upazila of Rangamati early today.
A joint team of police, army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested Rannin Soe, 45, from Islampur area around 3:00am, said Wahidullah Sarker, officer-in-charge of Rajasthali Police Station.
He was arrested over charges of trespassing and terrorist activities, the OC told our Bandarban correspondent. The police official claims he is a leader of the outfit.
The arrest was made around 49 days after a group of Myanmar insurgent attacked BGB in remote hills of Bandarban that left a soldier injured.
Rannin Soe is said to have been living in Rajasthali area for a long time.
