Arrest order for 11 war crimes suspects of Jessore
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 today issued arrest warrants against 11 alleged Razakars of Jessore, who were allegedly involved in crimes committed in the district during the Liberation War in 1971.
The three-member tribunal led by Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order following a petition of the prosecution, prosecutor Rezia Sultana Chaman told The Daily Star.
The suspects are: Ibrahim Hossain, Billal Hossain, Sheikh Majibur Rahman, Abdul Aziz Sardar, Aziz Sarder, Kazi Oahidul Islam, Lutfar Moral, Abdul Khaleq Moral, Akram Hossain, Ozehar Moral and Mushiar Rahman.
All are residents of Keshabpur upazila in Jessore. The prosecutor said they were allegedly involved in crimes including killing and rape.
In its petition, the prosecution said while investigating the war crimes allegations against former BNP lawmaker Sakhawat Hossain in Jessore, investigation officer found involvement of the 11 suspects into several crimes.
“We prayed to the tribunal to issue arrest warrants [against them] for the sake of fair investigation,” Rezia said.
Abdur Razzaque Khan, the investigation officer of the case, told The Daily Star that the suspects were the “associates of Sakhawat Hossain” and also members of Razakar Bahini, an auxiliary force of the Pakistani army in 1971.
