Arrest warrants for 10 war crimes suspects
A tribunal in Dhaka today issued arrest warrants against 10 war crimes suspects of Gaibandha and Moulvibazar for their alleged crimes committed during the Liberation War in 1971.
Of them, six including a former Jamaat-e-Islami lawmaker are from Gaibandha and four from Moulvibazar districts.
The International Crimes Tribunal-1 issued the warrants in response to two separate petitions submitted by the prosecution.
One of the Gaibandha's six suspects was the commander of Razakar bahini, an auxiliary force of Pakistani army, and the other five suspects were members of the force, said Prosecutor Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon.
The four war crimes suspects of Moulvibazar are from Sadar and Rajnagar police stations in the district, said Prosecutor Sheikh Mosfeq Kabir.
Investigators found evidence of their involvement in wartime offences. So, all the suspects need to be arrested and kept in jail for proper investigation in the cases, the prosecutors said.
