6 killed in Narsingdi road accident
At least six people were killed and 24 others injured after a covered van rammed into a bus in Sadar upazila of Narsingdi today.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately, our Narsingdi correspondent reports quoting Mohammad Ilias Mollah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Madhobdi Police Station.
Of the deceased, five people died on the spot and one succumbed on the way to the hospital, the OC said.
The Dhaka-bound bus from Monohardi was waiting to pick up passengers at Kandail bus station of Amadia union in the district when the covered van hit the bus plowing it through passengers sitting at the bus stop and later plunging it into a ditch, the official said.
The accident resulted in a long tailback on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway which was cleared around 10:00am, the official added.
The injured have been admitted to different clinics near Araihazar and Madhobdi.
