HC asks govt to make law on education
The High Court today directed the government to formulate a strategic law on education titled ‘Bangladesh Education Code’ in next one year.
The secretaries of education, law, finance and public administration ministries have been asked to take steps for formulating the law in order to solve the existing problem in education sector in Bangladesh.
The High Court bench of Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Jahirul Haque came up with the verdict following a writ petition filed by veteran Supreme Court lawyer ABM Nurul Islam.
The court also asked the secretaries to submit a report before the court after complying with the directive in one year.
Advocate ABM Nurul Islam submitted the writ petition in 2012.
Advocate Nurul Islam also argued before the court saying that there is no specific code containing basic system of management and administration at different education institutions.
He prayed to the court to direct the respondents to prepare an educational code which will be known as Bangladesh Education Code.
