4 ‘criminals’ killed in ‘gunfights’ with rivals
Four alleged criminals were killed in separate “gunfights” with their rivals in Sadar and Jhikargachha upazilas of Jessore early today.
Identities of the deceased could not be known yet, our Benapole correspondent reports quoting Anisur Rahman, superintendent of Jessore police.
The first gunfight took place between two gangs at Nangarpur village in Sadar upazila around 4:00am while the second one occurred at Chapatola in Jhikargachha upazila around 4:30am, said the SP.
On information, police recovered the four bodies and sent those to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue, said SP Anisur Rahman, adding that they were trying to identify the victims and also recognise the “criminal gangs”.
Police said they recovered two one-shooter guns, four bullets, one foreign-made pistol, five cartridges and five machetes and chopper from the two spots.
No criminals were arrested as they managed to flee the scenes sensing the presence of the law enforcers.
