3 ‘criminals’ killed in ‘gunfights’ in Ctg, Cumilla, Gazipur
Three suspected criminals were killed in separate “gunfights” with law enforcers in Chattogram, Cumilla and Gazipur districts of the country early today.
An AK-22 was recovered from Chattogram where the “gunfight” took place, our district correspondent reports quoting Mashkur Rahman, assistant director of Rab-7.
A suspected criminal was killed during a “gunfight” with Rab-7 members at Kothbaria village under Bhujpur Police Station in Fatikchhari around 3:00am, the Rab official said.
The identity of the deceased, aged about 40, could yet to be known yet.
The body has been sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital for autopsy, the official said.
Sixty-three bullets were also recovered from the spot, police said.
In Cumilla, suspected Yaba trader Rasel, 30, was killed in what police claimed was a gunfight in Sadar upazila, our district correspondent quoting Mainuddin Khan, officer-in-charge of Detective Branch of police.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team of DB raided Gumti River dam area. But sensing their presence, the Yaba traders opened fire at police forcing them to retaliate which triggered a “gunfight”.
At one stage, the criminals fled the scene leaving Rasel’s body in the area, the official added.
Rasel is listed drug peddler with at least eight to ten cases against him.
Police recovered 5,500 pieces of Yaba pills, a pipe gun with round cartridges, three bullet shells and a machete from the spot.
In Gazipur, Sujon Miah, 30, was killed in a “gunfight” with Rab at Salna in the city, our correspondent reports quoting Assistant Director of Rab-1 Kamruzzaman.
Rab recovered two shotguns, two one-shooter gun, nine cartridges and 120 yaba tablets from the area.
