The chief engineer of shipping department who was caught red-handed while taking bribe a few days ago in Dhaka’s Segunbagicha has been suspended by the ministry.

The ministry issued a circular today saying that the official, SM Nazmul Huq, chief engineer and surveyor of the Department of Shipping, has been suspended.

“The circular regarding the suspension has been issued following Nazmul’s arrest by Anti-Corruption Commission on April 12,” Jahangir Alam Khan, senior information officer of the ministry, told The Daily Star.

Notably, Nazmul was appointed in the place of Engineer AKM Fakhrul Islam last year, who was also sacked after being caught red-handed while taking bribe.
