Proposal of 128 addl dist judges’ promotion approved

The Supreme Court (SC) today approved a proposal for promotion of 128 additional district judges to the post of district judges.

The decision was taken at a full-court meeting of the High Court (HC) judges with Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain in the chair. 

The meeting was held in the conference room on the first floor of the Administration Building-4 of the SC this afternoon.

The law ministry had sent the proposal for promotion of total 148 additional district judges to the post of district judges around two years ago for its approval.

The meeting sources said the full court meeting refused to approve the promotion of 20 other additional judges out of 148 due to different reasons.
