Uncle, nephew stabbed dead in Noakhali

A man and his nephew were stabbed dead in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali early today.

Police identified the deceased as Mohammad Ali, 25, son of Solaiman; and his nephew M Robin, 20, son of Abudul Quader of Uttar Eklaspur village in the upazila, our Noakhali correspondent reports quoting police.

Ali was accused in nine cases including robbery, killing and mugging, Feroz Hossain, officer-in-charge of Begumganj Police Station, told the correspondent.

Ali’s father Solaiman said the incident took place when his son along with Robin was going to Eklashpur bazar by a motorcycle in the wee hours of today.

Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Noakhali police M Ilias Sharif said a gang of 8-10 miscreants stopped the motorcycle and hit Robin with sharp weapons on VIP road near Eklaspur Bazar, leaving him dead on the spot.

The attackers dumped the body of Robin in a local pond, the SP added. 

Sensing danger, Ali ran into the house of his paternal aunt’s house but the criminals entered the house and stabbed him to death, the SP said.   

Later, police said they recovered the bodies and sent those to Noakhali General Hospital morgue.
