Tk 1,207cr spent for cricket events in 8 FYs
State Minister for Youth and Sports Biren Sikder informed the House that the Bangladesh Cricket Board has spent a total of Tk over 1,207 crore from its own fund for holding cricket event in the country during the last eight fiscal years.
"The government does not allocate money in favour of the BCB for holding its cricket events round the year," he told the House in reply to lawmakers’ queries.
He said the BCB holds cricket programme with its own fund.
The junior minister also informed parliament the BCB spent Taka 104.03 crore for conducting cricket programme in 2009-10 fiscal and Taka 139.48 crore in 2010-11 FY.
Taka 129.82 crore was spent in 2011-12, Taka 101.01 crore in 2012-13, Taka 156.82 crore in 2013-14, Taka 229.76 in 2014-15, Taka 165.22 crore in 2015-16 and Taka 181.16 crore in 2016-17 fiscal, Dr Biren added.
