Bride snatched away at gunpoint on wedding day

Miscreants have crashed a wedding party and snatched away the bride at gunpoint at Araihazar upazila of Narayanganj, police say.

The incident took place at Rasulpur village last evening and left at least five including the groom injured, reports the Bangla daily Prothom Alo.

The bride’s father, Abdul Latif, has filed a complaint with Araihazar Police Station in this regard.

Complaint statement said at least seven to eight miscreants including Mofazzal, 24, Alamgir, 20, and Rakib, 19, all locals, carried out the attack with sharp weapons and guns.

Abdul Latif said the same group attacked him recently. “I have filed a case against them but they have been issuing threats to me to withdraw the case,” he said.

Following the complaint, police have been searching at different places across the area to rescue the abducted woman and to arrest the miscreants, Shawkhat Hossain, officer-in-charge of the Araihazar Police Station, told the Bangla daily.
