Broom procession in Narayanganj demanding gas supply

Agitated people today brought out a broom procession in Fatullah of Narayanganj and blocked a road protesting shortage of gas supply in the area from Saturday night. 

They warned to take tougher actions if gas supply was not restored by the next three days, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.

Locals said several hundred residents of the Sadar upazila’s Bhuighar area began the broom procession and blocked the Dhaka-Narayanganj Link Road around 11:00am.

Within half an hour police brought the situation under control, and resumed vehicular movement, Md Sharfuddin, an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Narayanganj, told our correspondent.

“Even though we connected a large pipe for easy gas supply accessibility, the problem is yet to be solved,” said Jostnya Begum, a resident of the area.
