2 killed in bus-truck collision in Brahmanbaria

Two people were killed and eight others injured in a collision between a bus and a stone-laden truck in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria early today.

The bus driver and the helper of a Sylhet-bound bus “London Express” died on the spot, reports our Brahmanbaria correspondent quoting Md Hussain Sarker, officer-in-charge of Sarail Bishwa Road Highway Police Station.

The incident took place when the bus collided with a stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction in Shoshoi area of the upazila on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway around 5:00am, the OC said.

The highway police and a fire service unit from nearby Madhabpur upazila in Habiganj rushed to the spot for rescue operation after the accident was reported, the official added.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be known.

The injured were admitted to Sylhet Medical College Hospital and other medical facilities in Habiganj's Madhabpur area.

The bodies were taken to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital, the OC added.
