3 killed, 5 hurt in Brahmanbaria road accident

Three people were killed and five others were injured as a passenger bus collided with a power tiller coming from the opposite direction on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria today.

The incident took place today evening, on the highway near Rampur area in the upazila, said Mahabubur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Khatihata Highway Police Station in Sarail of Brahmanbaria.

The deceased were identified as Aktar Hossain (48), Ramzan Miah (58) and Shahidullah Miah (32) of Char Islampur village under Bijoynagar upazila. All three of them were riding the power tiller and were left dead on the spot after the accident, the OC said.

Five passengers of the Sylhet-bound bus sustained injuries in the accident and were admitted to the emergency unit of Brahmanbaria General Hospital for treatment after being rescued, OC Mahabubur added.
