Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) is bent on bringing down Bangladesh, Finance Minister AMA Muhith said today.

“CPD is bent upon bringing down Bangladesh. That’s all”, he said in reaction to CPD’s yesterday’s report on banking sector and economic crisis.

“They (CPD) only find wrong in government policies…. But those policies have lifted the country up by miles. The CPD does not recognise those achievements,” he said.

Muhit came up the remarks while replying to reporters’ queries after holding a meeting with Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) at his secretariat office.

When journalists urged the minister to give elaborate details of his comments, the two-time Finance Minister Muhith retorted, “No, no, no, all rubbish.”

The economy has come under pressure due to the banking sector crisis, inflation and soaring imports amid inadequate export earnings and insufficient remittance inflows, the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) said yesterday.
