2 teenagers arrested for raping a child in Kurigram
Police arrested two teenagers in connection with raping a child in Rowmari upazila of Kurigram yesterday evening.
The child was admitted to Rowmari Upazila Health Complex and then shifted to Kurigram General Hospital at night as her condition was critical, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports, quoting police.
The victim's mother filed a case against the two teenagers, who were caught red handed at the spot, said Abu Md Hasan Dilwar Inam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Rowmari police station.
The teens hail from Char Gendar Alga area of the upazila, police added.
Picking the child up from her school, the teenagers took her to a field and raped her around 5:30 pm yesterday, the OC said.
Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the spot and rescued the child, the police official added.
They also caught the teenagers, who were trying to flee the spot, he said.
Locals handed over the duo to police and took the girl to the health complex, OC Hasan said.
"The child had a haemorrhage and I gave her primary treatment and referred her to Kurigram General Hospital for better treatment," said Dr Nupur Bishwas, a residential medical officer of Rowmari Upazila Health Complex.
