Man jailed for raping daughter in Gazipur

A court in Gazipur today sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping his 12-year-old daughter in Gazipur city in 2015.

Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Mesbah Uddin Ahmed handed down the verdict, our Gazipur correspondent reports quoting Public Prosecutor Shahjahan.  

The tribunal also fined convict Ainal Mia Tk 20,000, in default of which, he will have to suffer six months more in jail, the prosecutor said.

The case was filed under the women and children repression prevention Act against Ainal with Tongi Police Station on August 31, 2015.

On December 27, the same year police submitted a charge sheet accusing Ainal.
