House tutor held for rape attempt in Manikganj

Police have arrested a house tutor for allegedly attempting to rape a fourth grader in Manikganj Sadar upazila.

Rubel alias Romel, 30, was arrested by a police team from his house at Bangra village in the upazila soon after the victim’s father filed a case against him with Sadar Police Station last night, Harez Shikder, a sub-inspector of the police station, said today.

Police produced the arrestee before a court in Manikganj this morning seeking five-day remand, our Manikganj correspondent reports quoting the police official.

The teacher allegedly attempted to rape the girl on July 6 after he went to their house for tutoring her, SI Harez said.

Romel then threatened the victim not to disclose the matter to anyone, he said.

The girl later narrated the incident to family members on July 10, the police official added.
