4 minor girls ‘raped’ in 4 districts

Four minor girls have reportedly been raped in Kishoreganj, Pabna, Naogaon and Bagerhat.

In Kishoreganj, a fifth-grader has been allegedly raped by a neighbour in Karimganj upazila.

The incident took place on Saturday afternoon in Tulshia village when the 11-year old girl, daughter of a brick-field worker, went outside of their residence to play, reports our Mymensingh correspondent.

Kanon Mia, 52, a neighbour, forcibly took the girl to a nearby paddy field and raped her, said Md Mominul Islam, officer-in-charge of Karimganj Police Station, quoting victim’s family members.

Hearing the screams of the victim, her family members and neighbours went to the spot and rescued her in the evening, the OC said, adding that the girl was admitted to Kishoreganj General Hospital where her medical test has been conducted.

Locals also caught the accused from the village on Sunday and handed him over to police, the official also said.

A Kishoreganj court today sent Kanon to jail after he was produced before it showing him arrested in a case filed with the police station by the victim’s mother, he added.

In Pabna, a CNG-run auto-rickshaw driver and his assistant picked a Class-VII girl up on Sunday noon while she was returning home at their Bagholpur village from her sister's house in Dighalkandi village in Bera upazila, UNB adds.

The victim said the duo took her to a remote place and violated her. Later, locals rescued the victim.

Victim's mother filed a case with Bera Police Station on Sunday evening, said its officer-in-charge Monirul Islam.

In Naogaon, police arrested a young man -- Sujon Hasda, 22 -- as he allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl from an ethnic minority community on Sunday after abducting her in Dhamoirhat upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Dhamoirhat Police Station Jakirul Islam said the victim went to visit a social forestation project on the bank of the Atrai River at Shimultali with her friends when Sujon picked her up and took her to his house at Gopalpur village of Sapahar upazila.

Informed by locals, police rescued the victim around 2:30am on Monday from Sujon's house and arrested him, he said.

The victim's father said Sujon used to harass the girl.

In Bagerhat, a seventh-grader was raped by a 52-year-old neighbour at Baruipara village of Sadar upazila on Saturday afternoon, UNB adds.

Victim's uncle filed a case with Sadar Model Police Station on Sunday night accusing the man.

Officer-In-Charge of Sadar Model Police Station Md Mahtab Uddin said the man violated the girl as she was alone at the house on Saturday afternoon.

The accused fled the scene as locals rushed in hearing the victim's screams.
