CNG autos: A highway threat (video)
Low speed and slippery driving make CNG-run auto-rickshaws ideal prey for road crashes causing loss of innocent lives on the highways.
The government has banned these vehicles from plying the highways to check the loss of lives. The ban came into effect from August 1 triggering protests.
Though the ban has been a demand of a section of transport workers and vehicle owners for a long time, CNG drivers blame reckless bus drivers for accidents on highways.
The Daily Star Online a few days ago has talked with the drivers of the CNG-run auto-rickshaws where they all voiced strongly against the ban and urged the government to withdraw it.
