2 burnt to death in Cox’s Bazar store fire

Two people were burnt to death after a fire broke out at a department store in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar last night.

The deceased were identified as Firoz Ahmed, 53, department store owner, and Anowar Hossain, 16, an employee of the store, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting Abul Khayer, officer-in-charge of Ramu Police Station.

Four other stores were also burned in the fire that broke out around 1:30am at Garjania Bazar of the upazila, the police official said.

On getting the news, firefighting units from Cox’s Bazar and Ramu went to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 3:00am.

The bodies of Firoz and his Anowar were recovered early today after the blaze was doused, the official added.
