Dhaka-Sylhet-Ctg train services resume after 10 hours
Rail communications of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet have resumed after 10 hours of its suspension due to derailment of five oil tankers of a freight train.
The train communications resumed around 3:30pm after the tankers were removed from the rail track by a salvation train coming from Kulaura, said Rashidpur railway station master Yasin Arafat.
Earlier, rail communications of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet remained suspended as an oil tanker derailed at Ramitpur Railway Station at Habiganj upazila in Sylhet this morning.
Six tankers of the Chittagong-bound train veered off the tracks near Ramitpur station around 5:00am, assistant station master of Kulaura Railway Station Mainuddin told The Daily Star.
The derailment halts train services of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet, the assistant station master also said.
Parabat Express and Joyantika Expresse from Dhaka and Kalni, Bemu and Paharika expresses from Sylhet got stuck at different points on the route following the derailment, he added.
