Eid journey: No leave for RHD officials, says Quader

Leave of all Road Transport and Highways Division officials has been cancelled with a view to easing up the journey of Eid holidaymakers, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said today.

The minister disclosed the information while talking to reporters on Dhaka-Tangail highway at Chandra intersection in Gazipur this morning, reports our district correspondent.

Quader, also the general secretary of ruling Awami League, visited the highway to scrutinise the condition of the road ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.

“This year, a number of points of the highways were damaged in the wake of floods. As the floodwaters have begun to recede, the engineers along with the contractors have started the repair work,” he said.

He further said, “We are monitoring the overall situation to ease up the holiday makers’ journey and we won’t let any disruption in vehicular movement. The leave of all officials of Road Transport and Highways Division has been cancelled to this end.”
