Fair trial will prove Manna innocent, wife tells media
Nagorik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna will be proved innocent if he gets a fair trial, his wife said today.
“Manna has full respect in the laws of the country and he is ready to face any allegations brought against him legally,” Meher Nigar said while addressing a press conference at the party’s central office on Topkhana Road in Dhaka.
Nigar said Manna led an illustrious political life and did not believe in any conspiracy or subversive activities against the country.
About the leaked conversations with BNP leader Sadek Hossain Khoka and an unknown person purportedly staying in Australia, the wife claimed that those were presented in a distorted way.
Manna was admitted to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital from Dhaka Central Jail after he complained of chest pains on March 10.
He was arrested on February 24, a day after the leak of his controversial telephone conversations where Manna was heard talking to Khoka about strengthening the anti-government movement, among other issues.
Manna was placed on a ten-day remand in a case filed with Gulshan Police Station for “trying to instigate revolt by the armed forces”.
