The information ministry today urged the state-run media outlets to highlight Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's "eight innovative initiatives" mainly aimed to fight poverty and ensure a better life for under privileged people.

"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's eight innovative initiatives are crucial to bring fortune for the under privileged people by 2021 . . . we all should put in our best efforts to highlight these projects," a spokesman of the ministry quoted Information Secretary Martuza Ahmed as telling a meeting with the top officials of the departments and agencies linked to the ministry.

The top bureaucrat of the ministry listed the initiatives as - Ektee Bari, Ektee Khamar (One House, One Farm) project, Asrayan Prokalpa (shelter project); Digital Bangladesh; Education Assistance Programme; Women Empowerment Programme; Electricity for All; Social Safety programme; and Community Clinic and Child Development.

He also called the authorities concerned to provide necessary suggestions for the success of the initiatives.

Managing Director and Chief Editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, Chief Information Officer Tosir Ahmed and Director General of National Institute of Mass Communication A K M Shameem Chowdhuri, among others, took part in the meeting.
